Excerpts from: “Why Should the Government Avoid Waste of Money if it Can Get More by Stripping the Citizens?”

By Robert Quillen
This nation was founded as a protest against taxes.  The patriots of the revolution took up arms to save their pocketbooks.

Yet every generation from that time until the present has endured an increase in the burden of taxation.

Americans are indeed a docile people.  They are as meekly dumb as sheep led to the slaughter.

Taxation, like other evils, escapes public condemnation by adjusting its increase to the increase of public tolerance.

Do you enjoy forcing your family to economize in order to provide money for public servants to waste?
